The importance of work experience.
Work experience plays an essential role in preparing young people for the world of work. As a business we are avid supporters of apprenticeship schemes and so when we were approached about taking on a work experience student for a week, we were more than happy to oblige.

We welcomed Poppy into the Simon Nicholas Associates office on Monday. This, like many other fourteen year olds, was her first taste of what it is like to be in a real workplace.
It was important to ensure her work experience was rounded and useful and so her week was planned to include:-
- An introduction into office life and an insight into the recruitment industry.
- Assisting the consultants in their administration duties, this included looking at candidate records.
- A fact finding task to obtain relevant client information and update our recruitment in-house database.
- Understanding the importance of social media and communication and how to create a strong brand awareness in a competitive market. Poppy took and edited images and posted content on social media sites.
- Creating a CV
Poppy said “ I have learnt lots of different things during my time at Simon Nicholas Associates both to do with the business and recruitment. It has made me consider thinking about a future office job.”

And so, as Poppy returns to school this morning for her last week of studies, we hope she is a little clearer on her career path .
