National Smartcard CSCS Audit 8th February 2017

February 7, 2017

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) are encouraging cardholders to bring their cards to work on Wednesday 8th February as  Build UK and CECA are carrying out a nation-wide SmartCard Audit.

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has specified a requirement for CSCS skills cards to carry the CSCS logo. No equivalents will be accepted from 2015 and for these cards to become smart enabled.

Smart technology not only certifies that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out, but will also save valuable time and money for individual contractors.

The Build UK and CECA SmartCard Audit will promote the value of the smart technology used by CSCS and its affiliated schemes to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired and fraudulent cards which are in the system . This has been highlighted in the news only this week, see article by Construction Enquirer: Six months in jail for CSCS skills card fraudster

The SmartCard Audit represents a fantastic opportunity for Build UK and CECA members to bring their smart technology procedures in line with the recommendations of the Construction Leadership Council.
