Claire takes on the Dart 10k swim
August 31, 2016
In just 3 days I face my biggest challenge yet!
The River Dart 10K – also know to others as the swimming version of a marathon.
Yes the word river sends shivers down my spine but my next quest is being tackled to raise funds and awareness for charities which make the lives of children with cancer easier to bear with as well as funding integral research and supporting their families throughout the ordeal.
Let me explain. Becca (pictured below) a little lady who is dear to my heart, has a positive story to tell, many families are not so lucky. So when my good friend asked if a few of us would step outside our comfort zones to raise money and to celebrate Becca’s 5 year all clear…..we of course said “ hell yeah”.
Then she told us our task:-The Dart 10K (She got us at a vulnerable prosecco moment)
So on September 3, we shall be loobing up and facing a 10K swim in the River Dart….yep 10K.
Rush, Challenge, Fear, Joy?
I can’t even imagine what my body will go through; there will be highs & lows along the way but what I am sure, is that it will be nothing compared to what many families and children go through daily.
I am told that there is something very special about endurance swims, I hope I find that place!
And so it leads me on to ask for sponsorship. Any donations, small or large are hugely appreciated. Please help us reach our £5k target (we are so nearly there) and we shall swim our little wetsuits off and be greeted at the end by whoops and cheers from Becca herself and all our families.
Thank you for taking the time to read and wish me luck!
